A new college football rivalry kicks off this weekend, and this one comes with a little more history than your typical football trophy.
Eureka College in Illinois and Westminster College in Fulton are launching the Berlin Wall Bowl, a new annual rivalry built around the remarkable connection both schools have to Ronald Reagan, Winston Churchill, and the Cold War. Churchill delivered his famous Iron Curtain speech at Westminster, while Reagan graduated from Eureka College and delivered his famous “Tear down this wall” speech in Berlin in 1987. The inaugural Berlin Wall Bowl is Saturday at Eureka, with Westminster looking to bring the trophy back to Missouri.
Joining Show Me Today are Timothy Riley, director and chief curator of the National Churchill Museum at Westminster College, and Dr. Jessica Brown, Westminster’s Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.
