The hunting dates were approved by the Missouri Conservation Commission at its December 13 meeting in St. Charles.
The Missouri Conservation Commission has also given initial approval to chronic wasting disease recommendations. Initial approval was given to allow hunters to transport deer carcasses for processing. Unused parts must be disposed in a landfill, through a trash service or on the property where the animal was harvested. Hunters must also report their deer through Telecheck before transporting any parts out of the county where the deer was harvested.
The proposed changes are intended to slow the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease, simplify regulations, and reduce the burden on hunters. Improper disposal of deer carcasses can spread CWD, posing a threat to Missouri’s deer population.
Conservation officials will accept public comments on the changes from February 19 – March 20, 2025.
