Royals closer Joakim Soria won September’s DHL Delivery Man of the Month following a strong finish to a great breakout season for the Royals’ closer. The 24 year old Soria had 42 saves and a 1.60 ERA.
Soria was 1-0 with nine saves in September and did not allow a run in 10 1/3 innings in 10 appearances. In recognition of the award, DHL will donate $1,500 to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Kansas City in Soria’s name.

Soria’s 42 saves is second for American League relievers and the fourth-highest total in club history. He’s third in Royals’ history behind Jeff Montgomery and Dan Quisenberry with his 59 saves.
