The Royals used their biggest inning of the season, a seven run effort to turn in a 10-7 victory at Baltimore and earn a four game split with the Orioles. The Royals used the long ball and got great relief work from the bullpen.
The Royals got five innings of shutout pitching from the bullpen trio of Joel Peralta, Ron Mahay and Joakim Soria. They got three RBIs from Guillen, four hits from Mark Grudzielanek and home runs from Billy Butler and Tony Pena.
The Royals gave starter Kyle Davies an early 3-0 lead with Billy Butler and Tony Pena going deep against left-hander Garrett Olson, but Davies had to be lifted after the fourth inning when he gave up seven runs in five innings including a big five run, fourth inning.
Then the Royals started coming back in the sixth. Guillen began the Royals’ big inning with a walk and included a double by Butler, a error by first baseman Kevin Millar and four straight singles capped by a two run single, one from David DeJesus who extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
