Santana shuts down Royals 4-0

A pitching duel at the K.  Royals starter Brett Tomko traded zereos with Angels starter Ervin Santana through seven innings, but the bullpen faltered in the 9 th to give Santana his sixth win of the year.   

Tomko pitched well after struggling his last few starts giving up no runs on two hits and seven strikeouts in seven innings.  Ramon Ramirez, Jimmy Gobble, and Joel Perralta give up four runs to the Angels in the 9 th , including two home runs given up by Perralta. 

Santana is 6-0 for the Angels, after going the distance with a complete game shutout giving up four hits, and striking out nine. 

Before the game, starting pitcher John Bale apologized to the team for punching a hotel room door in Cleveland and breaking his hand.  It will be at least a month before he can throw again.
