Cards win, good news for pitcher Pineiro

Skip Schumaker went 2-for-4 and drove in two runs for the Cardinals.  Starter Brad Thompson pitched five innings, giving up two runs on four hits. He walked one and struck out four in the outing.  Cards beat the Twins 8-4.

Piniero threw 34 pitches on Monday Joel Piniero pitched for AAA Memphis against the Marlins AAA squad.  Pitch two innings, threw 34 pitches and felt normal after the game.  It’s been three weeks since he last pitched.  With a seven hour bus ride yesterday for the Cards to play the Twins, they decided to keep third basemen Troy Glaus back in Jupiter.  He has a stiff back.  He says it’s nothing serious.

Just three games left in Florida before coming up to Springfield this weekend.  6 days until opening day.
