Retailers Brace for Hectic End to Holiday Shopping Season

December 20, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

There are still four shopping days to go before Christmas, and indications are this has already been a good year at the cash register for retailers. Missouri Retailers Association President Dave Overfelt says Black Friday – the day after Thanksgiving – saw stores jammed with customers buying holiday treasures … with the days since then profitable, too. And, Overfelt says millions people in Missouri and throughout the country haven’t even started their shopping yet. Overfelt expects a very good holiday shopping season for retailers, with sales estimated to be about 5 percent over last year’s numbers. Overfelt points out last year’s sales were 6 percent over sales for the previous year.
