A lawsuit filed in Jackson County accuses a former Kansas City-area priest of molesting a 12-year-old boy in 1978. The lawsuit says John Tulipana abused the boy during a trip. The suit also says the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocese ignored complaints and concealed the priest’s actions. Tulipana resigned as a priest in 1994 after the Kansas City Star reported the diocese had paid $150,000 to a man who claimed Tulipana had molested him in 1980 and ’81.
