The Economic Department says Missouri’s playing in the big leagues, and it’s playing pretty well. Spokesman Spence Jackson says the number of state exports is 22 percent higher in the third quarter than in the same period last year – and last year was a record breaking year. Jackson says a large part of the success comes from the state’s active role in the world arena – something he says will only open up new markets and more jobs. He says Missouri exports products from an array of sectors including agriculture, chemicals, machinery, and computer and electronics. The leading sector, transportation equipment, brought in about $3 billion in the third quarter. A total of sectors topped $100 million in sales.
