While Chase Daniel was setting Mizzou records in Columbia, Albert Pujols was creating a little history of his own in St. Louis Sunday. The Cardinals’ first baseman launched three home runs in his first three at-bats in St. Louis’ 6-3 victory.
Pujols became just the second player to hit his 40th homer of the season as part of three-blast day. And Pujols wasn’t the only one with a standout performance.
Rookie pitcher Anthony Reyes, called up from Triple A Memphis late last week, dominated Pittsburgh for six and a third innings, striking out a career-high nine Pirates. Jason Isringhausen worked the ninth inning for the save.
