DeKalb Grabs Class 1 Title

March 18, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

For the second straight year, the DeKalb Tigers ended Leeton’s season with a loss. Last year DeKalb beat Leeton for third place. This year it was for all the marbles as DeKalb won the Class 1 girl’s championship 51-39.

Sophomore guard Kelsey Wolfe led the way for the Tigers with 19 points, 13 in the second half.

Katie Drendel, gave the Bulldogs a 33-25 lead midway through the third quarter, but it was all DeKalb after that. The Tigers went on a 16-0 run to take the lead 41-33 in the fourth and never looked back.

Tia LeFavor led the way for Leeton with 16 points and 17 rebounds.
