Senate Approves Bill Regarding Naming of Highways and Bridges

March 2, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The State Senate thinks Missourians should be able to name sections of highways or bridges for someone without having to go through the entire legislative process. The Senate has sent the House a bill letting the Legislative Joint Committee on Transportation decide whether to approve an application for memorial roads and bridges. Senate Transportation Committee Chairman Bill Stouffer of Napton says the process will start with a petition. The cost of the sign for 20 years is about $4,400. The bill says the name comes off that stretch of road after two decades unless someone renews the program for another 20 years.
