Big Upsets In High School Hoops Playoffs

Two top-ranked teams were upset on the first night of high school playoff action. In a Class 5 boys sectional, Columbia Rock Bridge lost to No. 7 Troy Buchanan 51-44. The Bruins had won 23 straight games before Wednesday’s loss. In Class 4, the St. Joseph Benton girls’ basketball team fell to Lincoln Prep 45-37. The other two top-ranked teams won their sectional games. In Class 5 girls action, Incarnate Word downed Lafayette Wildwood 56-25. In Class 4 boys action, Lincoln Prep beat Excelsior Springs 63-31.
