KC Brigade Begin Franchise With Loss

January 30, 2006 By admin Leave a Comment

The Kansas City Brigade’s first Arena Football League game resulted in a 58-44 loss to the Dallas Desperados in Dallas. The Brigade failed to score on their first two drives and were scoreless going into the second quarter. The franchise’s first touchdown came when fullback Dawan Moss got into the end zone on a one-yard run. Unfortunately for the Brigade, they played catch-up the rest of the game and never led. Dallas scored eight touchdowns, while Kansas City scored six.

The closest Kansas City came was in the second quarter, when quarterback Andy Kelley threw one of his four touchdown passes late in the half to cut the Dallas lead to 14-13. The Desperados responded with another touchdown on the next possession. Kansas City hit a field goal with six seconds to go in the first half, when they hit a field goal to cut the deficit to 21-16.

Kelley was 30-of-49 for 243 yards with four touchdowns and two interceptions. He suffered a groin pull in the game, as well. Wide receiver Jerel Meyers caught nine passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
