Senate Panel to Probe Medicaid Fraud

December 21, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A special State Senate committee has been created to examine fraud by Medicaid providers. Critics of the Medicaid reforms passed earlier this year charged it focused entirely on recipients, but ignored fraud by people supposedly providing services. Last weekend, the Kansas City Star ran articles estimating fraud by doctors, dentists, caregivers and other serivce providers could be as much as $575-Million a year in Missouri. Senate leaders who’ve appointed the committee admit the newspaper articles have motivated them to take action.
