AG’s Website Lists Damaged Cars Sold to Unsuspecting Buyers

October 26, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

The vehicle identification numbers of thousands of damaged vehicles sold to unsuspecting buyers have been put on the Attorney General’s website. Missouri’s list has 265 numbers. State Farm admits about 32,000 of the repaired vehicles are still on the road. State Farm Insurance company resold the vehicles with “clean” titles on them a couple of years ago. State Farm and Attorneys General in 49 states signed an agreement last January settling complaints about the dealings. The company has refused to make the numbers public. Missouri is one of the first states to do so. Current registered owners started getting settlement letters last month. Each current owner will get $400 to $20,000, depending on the value of the vehicle.
