National Education Program to Help in KC

October 17, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Teach for America might come to the aid of the Kansas City School District. The program trains professionals for the urban classroom. Those involved give up two years of their career to teach in inner-city schools. It has been around for 15 years and has trained 13,000 college graduates. Kansas City is interested, because of results in St. Louis. Scores from state assessments show that five St. Louis schools using Teach for America teachers saw improvements roughly three times greater than improvements measured district-wide between 2003 and 2004.
