KC Gets New City Song

August 26, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

Kansas City finally has a city song that rocks. The City Council has voted unanimously to replace “Kansas City, My Home Town” with Wilbert Harrison’s hit song, “Kansas City,” from 1959, about a guy who is desperate to get to a town that has some crazy lil’ women.” Kansas City Star columnist Mike Hendricks, who led a petition drive to get the song changed, says in his column today that the city finally has a song “that most of the world can hum and dance to.”
