Washington University Students Give Up Hunger Strike

They can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner today. Students at Washington University in St. Louis who have been staging a hunger-strike have ended it after six days. Chancellor Mark Wrigton has agreed to meet with the students to discuss their demand that campus workers get better pay, benefits and working conditions. The chancellor agreed to three meetings after a weekend rally drew 160 church and union leaders, politicians and activitists in support of the students.
