A State Senate committee gives its blessings for Colonel King Sidwell to become Missouri’s next Adjutant General of the Missouri National Guard. Sidwell tells the Gubernatorial Appointments Committee he is concerned about managing the Guard both here at home and those deployed abroad, about joint operations of the Army and Air National Guard, and the reorganization of the Army being undertaken by the Pentagon, which he says will affect the number of guardsmen in Missouri. Sidwell retired last year and went into private practice as an attorney in Sikeston. His nomination now goes before the full Senate.
