Blunt Hopes Choice For Insurance Chief Will Get To Bottom Of Rising Medical Malpractice Rates

January 4, 2005 By admin Leave a Comment

A man from St. Louis is being asked to head the state department of insurance. Dale Finke’s nomination by incoming Governor Matt Blunt is subject to state senate approval. Finke says he’ll look to make the State Insurance Department more efficient in its operations. Another area that the man who nominated him, Governor-elect Matt Blunt, wants Finke to look at is the rising cost of medical malpractice insurance. Blunt believes one of the biggest reasons for the crisis is frivilous lawsuits. The Goveror-elect is promising litigation reform during the upcoming legislative session. Finke says that is one of the factors driving up insurance costs for doctors, but also admits he’ll need to study the issue more thoroughly.
