Blunt Pleased with Iraqi Progress Toward Elections

December 20, 2004 By admin Leave a Comment

Southwest Missouri Congressman Roy Blunt, just back from an inspection trip to Iraq, says violence there creates a difficult situation for Iraqi election officials. But he says he’s impressed with the steps being taken to create accessible, safe, polling places. Blunt says the Iraqis will be handling most of the polling place security on election days with United States troops standing by for emergencies. Blunt has experience in holding elections. He was Missouri Secretary of State for eight years.
