The 2004 Major League Baseball season ends on a down note for the National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals. The Redbirds were shut out 3-0 by the Boston Red Sox in Game 4 of the World Series at Busch Stadium. The win gave Boston a 4-0 sweep of the Fall Classic. The Redbirds had won 105 games during the regular season and defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros in the playoffs to move to the World Series.
