The SMS Bears grabbed their first conference win of the season with a 95-85 win at Evansville in double overtime. The Purple Aces had the Bears on the ropes with a 12-point lead after the first half. In fact, Evansville had a 64-52 lead with 6:03 to go, before freshman Blake Ahearn ripped the Purple Aces with a barrage of three-pointers. He finished the evening with 25 points, hitting seven three-pointers, which was one shy of the school record. In overtime and double overtime Nathan Bilyeu, another freshman, had six points and four rebounds after four teammates fouled out of the game. The victory gives SMS a record of 9-5 overall and 1-2 in the MVC.
