Brian Savage scored twice for Phoenix as the Blues fell to the Coyotes 5-4. Savage scored the first goal just 51-seconds into the game. Dallas Drake tied things up for St. Louis at the 11:26 mark of the first. The Blues went up 3-1 with goals from Ryan Johnson and Chris Pronger in the second period, but Phoenix got red-hot. Jeff Taffe scored at the 13:09 mark to cut the Blues’ lead to 3-2. Then Shan Doan scored twice over a 2:49 span to tie it up and give Phoenix the lead. Scott Mellanby’s power play goal in the third re-tied the game at 4-4, but Savage struck again with 1:45 to go for the game-winner for the Coyotes. Chris Osgood was in goal and got the loss. Doug Weight returned from his four-game suspension with four assists. That wraps up a four game west coast trip for the Blues. They were 2-2 on the western swing.
