A report from State Auditor Claire McCaskill highlights some of the concerns with Missouri’s much-criticized foster care system. The audit points to a lack of visits to foster homes from Division of FamilyServices officials, overworked staffs at Division offices, and McCaskill says the Division has not done a good job of keeping track of the whereabouts of children in the system. McCaskill says there is some positive news inthat children in foster care are rarely at risk. She points to the fact many children living with their natural parents are more at risk than are those in the foster care system.
