A sex offender who failed to register with authorities in Platte County has been sent to prison for three years. Charles Riley Burge had moved into the area in 1997, a year after being convicted of a Marion County rape. He was charged two years ago with failing to register, a misdemeanor. He was put on probation but still did not register. The prosecutor says he upgraded the charge to a felony after that.
