Edgar Renteria’s game winning hit gave the Cards a 3-2 victory over the Diamondbacks last night. J.D. Drew homered and Miguel Cairo singled in a run to give the Birds a 2-0 lead in the 7th. Arizona responded with runs in the 8th and 9th to tie it, before Renteria drove in So Taguchi in the bottom of the ninth inning to win it. Starter Andy Benes didn’t get the win, but pitched well, holding the Snakes scoreless through seven. Jason Isringhausen got the win in relief, improving to 3-2 on the season. Arizona had their ticket to the post season stamped, thanks to the Dodgers loss last night.
