KC Offense Sputters, Defense Crumbles

The Chiefs dropped to 1-1 with a 23-16 loss to the Jaguars. Fred Taylor rushed for 114 yards and mark Brunell passed for 320, as the Chiefs’ defense struggled all day. They gave up two fourth quarter touchdowns. A 79-yard pass to Patrick Johnson and a 63-yard run from Fred Taylor. The Chiefs took a 6-0 lead with field goals on their first two drives but failed to get in the end zone until late in the fourth quarter. The 12-yard strike from Trent Green to Tony Gonzalez capped a :34 drive. With 2:30 to go in the ball game, the Jaguars ran three plays and gained a first down. They ran the clock off after that. Green was 16 of 31 for 199 yards, tossing two interceptions. Priest Holmes had 84 yards rushing. The Chiefs are at New England next Sunday.
