It’s been nearly four years since a Missouri Tiger has put up numbers worthy of conference acclaim. Brad Smith won the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week award yesterday, sharing the honor with Sooner running back Quinten Griffen. The last Mizzou football player to win the honor was Devin West in 1998. Corby Jones also won the award. Smith’s 290 total yards led MU to a 33-20 win over Illinois. The Tigers also received 8 votes in the AP poll ranking, the 43rd highest total. Missouri faces Ball State for their home opener this Saturday night. There was some bad news for the Tigers. Damien Nash who was their prized running back recruit has hurt his knee in a game for Coffeyville (KS) Community College. No word on how badly he’s injured. Nash is expected to transfer to Mizzou after this season.
