West-Central Missouri Congressman Ike Skelton favors launching an attack against Iraq with some conditions attached. Skelton is the ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee. He says before the US attacks Iraq, not only does the country need to know what type of force it will take to be successful, but what it will do if Saddam Hussein is removed from power. Skelton says the removal of Hussein could trigger a power vacuum in Iraq that Kurds, Shiites, Iranians and others would try to fill. Skelton says he’s concerned that no one is talking about that. Skelton also is concerned that Saudi Arabia hasn’t given its support to an attack.
