Whether he knew it or not, Edgar Renteria did a pretty good Ozzie Smith impresonation on Sunday. The Cardinals short stop doesn’t hit many home runs…niether did Ozzie. But he hit one when it counted…just like Ozzie in the 1985 NLCS. On the same day The Wizard was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Renteria snapped a three-run homer in the bottom of the 9th as the Cards topped the Cubs 10-9. St. Louis trailed early falling in a 6-0 hole. It was 9-4 going into the final frame. The win moves St. Louis five games ahead of Cincinnati in the N.L. Central playoff race. Dave Veres got the win in relief.
