Blues Lose Game 1

April 19, 2002 By admin Leave a Comment

In many respects the Blues had better numbers than the Blackhawks, but Chicago was superior in the only stat that counts: the score. St. Louis fell to their Windy City counterparts 2-1 at Savvis Center. Pavol Demitra put St. Louis on the board in the second period when he redirected Chris Pronger’s slap shot from just inside the blue line. The lead didn’t last long. Kyle Calder scored on Brent Johnson who was out of position 1:12 later. In the third period, with 3:10 to go, Alexander Karpovstev got the game-winning goal. It was just his second tally of the season. The Blues got the loss despite out shooting the Hawks 35-21. St. Louis will try to tie things up on Saturday. Face off is at 2:00 at Savvis Center
