Special Legislative Session Gets Underway

September 5, 2001 By admin Leave a Comment

The special session of the Legislature begins today with State Senators and State Representatives tackling three issues. The primary order of business will be for lawmakers to come up with agreement on a prescription drug plan for senior citizens. A task force put together by Governor Bob Holden has come up with a proposal and is presenting it to lawmakers. The second agenda item will be to deal with the controversial Livestock Marketing Law. The third item will be for the Legislature to take action to spare Missourians from having to pay state tax on the federal income tax money coming from the changes in the federal tax laws.
