There is some good news for foot draggers in that April 15th falls on a Sunday this year. So, the deadline for filing your income tax returns has been moved to Monday, April 16th. But the added day is not a lot of time for someone needing to get hold of various forms. The Internal Revenue Service in St. Louis says some forms are available at post offices and other public buildings, and any form can be mailed to you. But not all forms are waiting at the post office, and mailed forms might not get to you in time for the deadline. So, the I.R.S. suggests filing electronically. This can be done at home, provided you have the necessary software. Most professional tax preparers are also equipped to file electronically. Whether you file electronically or by using the traditional mail method, you must file by next Monday. If you’re not prepared to file a complete return, you are expected to file, anyway, for an extension.
