Governor Bob Holden has issued an executive order aimed at streamling the registration process for the state’s trucking inudstry. Currently, transportation companies are required to work through four different state departments to register a vehicle: The Departments of Revenue, Economic Development, Natural Resources, and Transportation. Governor Holden’s order will develop a common registration process and design an Internet registration application accessible through a common process – both by July 1st of this year. The order also calls for a draft plan, by January 1st of next year, that can lead to the conslolidation of trucking registration services. And, by January 1st of 2003, he wants a single motor carrier services office in Jefferson City.
