Providing more dental care in areas where there are few dentists is part of a package being debated in the state senate. Senator RoseAnn Bentley of Springfield wants to have the state pay part of dental student’s loans if they work in under-served areas. Her bill also would free dental hygienists from some limits they now have. Her bill also sets up a state office of donated dental services to encourage dentists to donate services to low-income people. She says the idea has worked well in Pennsylvania.
