Governor Holden hadn’t even taken his oath of office before his first major problem cropped up, the death of Trans World Airlines. Airline industry reports say TWA will go bankrupt and be bought by American Airlines. Holden says the state’s role is uncertain until more information is available. The governor says he wants to see what the agreement between the two airlines looks like before he responds. Holden says his staff has already started talks with TWA. Holden says he does not want to lose the jobs at the TWA maintenance facility in Kansas City, or at the Midwest hub in St. Louis.
