The Hagale sports clothing factory in Ava has been closed, two weeks after the city disconnected electricity to it because of nonpayment of bills. The city says the factory owes more than $6,000. Company president Jim Hagale says the company is offering jobs to workers there at its plants in Ozark and Forsyth. He blames the Land’s End mail-order company for his latest problems. Hagale says Land’s End has refused to honor an informal agreement to buy clothing from his company. Hagale Industries also has trouble in Salem, where the check for its utility bill recently bounced.
