Proposition B bashed

September 20, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A legal analysis commissioned by Associated Industries of Missouri outlines some of the group’s concerns about Proposition B, which deals with public financing of political campaigns. Associated President Chris Long says passage will affect more Missouri businesses than proponents say it will. Attorney Mark Ellinger, who conducted the study, says the section of the initiative that calls for corporations to fund some political campaigns is unclear. Ellinger says that while proponents say their desire is to have a one-time tax increase, the wording in the proposition could allow the tax to continue forever.
