Kansas City banker R. Crosby Kemper-the third is donating the money to restore a statue that often symbolizes Kansas City…and is used as a symbol for his bank. The statue, called “The Scout,” portrays an Indian on his horse, gazing at the Kansas City skyline from Penn Valley Park. Through the years, the statue has been defaced by vandals. The reigns have been stolen from the horse and the bow-and-arrows the Indian carried. Kemper’s bank, United Missouri Bank, has used The Scout as a corporate symbol.
