Sheriff Says "Yes" to Trigger Lock Gift

March 24, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The sheriff of St. Louis says he’ll gladly take the five-thousand gun safety locks that the mayor has angrily refused to accept. The locks are being offered by the gun manufacturing industry, which the city is suing. Sheriff Jim Murphy says he’ll give out the locks to people who get permits to buy guns. The mayor says he does not object to Murphy taking the locks, but he thought the city’s lawsuit against gun manufacturers would be weakened if the city accepted the offer.
