Plans for a new state prison in Jefferson City can move forward now that landowners east of the city have sold the property. A protracted fight about the land ended when Jim and Marilyn Hoffman accepted the state’s $2-point-1 Million offer. State Design and Construction Director Randy Allen says now state architects and designers can proceed with their plans. Allen says the new prison just east of Jefferson City will be designed in accordance with the designs of the latest prison to be built in Bowling Green. The new prison will replace the old prison just east of the Capitol near downtown Jefferson City.
