Concerns over the impact of chip mills operating in Missouri will beaddressed at a public hearing in Jefferson City this afternoon. The publicis invited to comment on a draft report prepared by the conservationdepartment on the impact of chip mills in the state. Chip mills chop treesinto small pieces which are used in the making of wood pulp and ultimatelypaper. Brian Brookshire of the state division of forestry says a departmentsurvey finds just 39-percent support some type of state regulation of forestland in Missouri. The public hearing will be held from 4-7 this afternoon at theDepartment of Natural Resources’ conference center in Jefferson City.
