The Republican-led state legislature will hold two hearings related to abortion Tuesday.

A state House committee says it wants to learn what it can about how abortions are carried out in Missouri.
Department of Health and Senior Services acting director Peter Lyskowski will testify to the committee on Children and Families. The committee’s posting says it wants to hear about former and current policies regarding abortions and the facilities they happen in, and any changes to policy.
A Senate committee will consider a bill dealing with issues Republicans have after the summer’s hearings on abortion. Its provisions would specify that fetal tissue left after an abortion may not be donated or gifted for specific uses; that fetal tissue must be sent to a pathologist and that it must be certified that all tissue has been disposed of according to law; would require a physician performing abortions to have surgical and admitting procedures at a nearby hospital and not just clinical privileges, tightens the law about the licensing of abortion facilities and other ambulatory surgical centers; and requires surprise annual inspections of abortion facilities.
That legislation is SB 644 sponsored by Bob Onder.

Those hearings followed the release of videos accusing Planned Parenthood of violating the law by selling fetal tissue. The organization says those videos are misleading and denies the allegation.
