The Kansas City Royals announced that after an examination by Dr. Vincent Key at The University of Kansas Hospitals, left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy has a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow. Duffy is expected to get a second opinion on his elbow from Dr. Lewis Yocum of Los Angeles, Calif., at a to-be-determined date and time.
Duffy will be a likely candidate for Tommy John surgery.
