A popular Kansas City-area high school coach is protesting his innocence to sex charges. Darren Mason appeared in court to plead not guilty. Mason does have the support of some parents. Mason, 33, is well-known as the basketball coach at Oak Park High School. He is on leave after being charged with having sex with a 15-year-old girl at his home last year. He’s charged with statutory rape and sodomy, but free on a $3,000 bond. He is on leave right now from his coaching and teaching duties.
