Today is George Washington’s birthday, one of the nation’s Founding Fathers, who served as the first U.S. president from 1789 to 1797.

Most federal, state and county offices are closed today to observe Presidents Day.

County courthouses will be closed across the state. Banks and financial institutions will be closed, and there will be no regular mail delivery.

Some schools might be closed today.

Emergency services are still available today. Corrections employees will be working in the state’s prisons and county jails.

The Missouri Legislature will also be working in Jefferson City.
