The mercury is rising, bringing some relief to drivers on Missouri’s roads. The Missouri Department of Transportation’s Traveler Information Map shows the state’s road conditions are improving, compared to earlier today.

The freezing rain has tapered off. The National Weather Service says the end of freezing rain does not necessarily mean the end of slick roads. Some parts of the state might still be getting some rain.

The state Department of Transportation has been out taking care of business today. Bob Becker, a MoDOT engineer, said road crews have been working 12-hour shifts to treat the streets.

“There may be spotty situations out there, ramps, overpasses, interchanges, things like that. Those locations don’t get as much traffic, don’t get our trucks around as often as the mainline, maybe some issues. So, you just need to be careful and take your time, give yourself plenty of stopping distance,” he said.

Becker warns drivers to have plenty of room between the cars in front of them, including MoDOT trucks.
