Kansas native leads Missouri’s stroke play championship heading into the final round

mgaMissouri Stroke Play Championship – Round Two

Cape Girardeau, MO – July 12, 2016 — Dalhousie Golf Club is host for the 2016 Missouri Stroke Play Championship.

Overland Park, KS native, and former All-American at Central Missouri, Travis Mays leads heading into Wednesday’s third and final round after backing up his impressive two-under performance on Monday with a round of 69 on Tuesday. Mays enters the final 36-hole day of competition with a two-shot lead.

Skip Berkmeyer of Wildwood turned in the low round of the day with a 67. Berkmeyer joins local favorite Brevin Giebler at three-under after Brevin shot a one-under par round of 71 after an opening round of 70.

Mitchell Mather of Lebanon, has sole possession of fourth place after a 73 to follow up his first round score of 70 that saw him tied for the lead. Two Kansas natives round out the top five as Preston Fleenor and Alex Springer both shot under par today. The pair is two-over and seven back of the leader Mays.

The cut was made at 157 (+13) after two rounds of play, with the top fifty and ties advancing to the 36-hole final day of play. Play will resume Wednesday at 7am at Dalhousie Golf Club.
